Experience You Can Trust
About Drew...
Meet Drew Baxter, founder of Canine Wellbeing Consulting.
For almost two decades I have worked as a teacher and school leader, with a focus on student wellbeing and trauma-informed practice. Alongside my teaching career, I became a qualified dog trainer and behaviourist, working with families, organisations and schools to create calm, safe and positive experiences with dogs.
I have previously worked as Program Leader with Dogs Connect Wellbeing Dog Program and prior to that as Team Leader of the Puppy Development Program at Guide Dogs Victoria and the RSPCA as a dog behaviourist.
As a Program Leader, Coach and Dog Behaviour Specialist with Dogs Connect, I had the privilege of supporting schools and workplaces nationally to successfully implement wellbeing dog programs. I saw first-hand the incredible impact these programs can have but also the challenges schools face when trying to get them right. I also have previous experience assessing and monitoring therapy dog teams for the Lort Smith Animal Hospital in a range of settings, such as hospitals, retirement homes and youth justice centres.
I created Canine Wellbeing Consulting to guide schools through every stage of their journey, from planning and preparation, dog selection, professional development, student workshops and long-term support. My goal is to ensure your program is safe, sustainable and delivers real wellbeing outcomes for your whole community - not just having a dog on site.
I found there was a level of in-person support that is not being met and so I wanted to provide the real time support to ensure a safe, effective and long term program, whether you have an existing program or just want to get started with expert support.
